Two older adults and two young adults participated in this study. During each trial, lower extremities kinematics were measured using a 10 camera Vicon system (250Hz) and ground reaction forces were recorded using two Kistler force platforms (1000Hz). FVM was calculated by ground reaction forces using Visual3D software. The results indicated young adults showed adduction-FVM (ADD-FVM) but older adults presented abduction-FVM (ABD-FVM) during double-stance phase. Older adults seemed to exert more ABD-FVM than young adults while in the single support phase. It was concluded that the FVMs seemed to point to different strategies between older adults and young adults.Item Angular analysis of the index and middle fingers during fastball and curveball pitching - a case study(2008-07-18) 黃長福; Chung-Lung Lin; Chen-fu Huang; Jia-Hao ChangThe purpose of this study was to expand the knowledge by quantifying and comparing finger angle between curveball (CB) and fastball (FB) pitching. One division II college pitcher was participated in present study. A VICON Motion capture system were used to collect 3-D kinematic data (500Hz). Three successful trials for each FB and CB were collected. The metacarpal phalangeal joint (MCP), proximal interphalangeal joint (PIP) and distal interphalangeal joint (DIP) angle was analysed. There were several differences in MCP, PIP and DIP angle for CB and FB. But similar patterns were found between index finger and middle finger. This information may beneficial to conduct thefurther study to explore the mechanics of pitching.Item The application of range of motion (ROM) and coordination on volleyball spike(2008-07-18) 黃長福; Li-Fang Liu; Gin-Chang Liu; Chiao-Wen Sue; Chen-fu HuangItem An artificial neural network method for predicting lower limb joint moments from kinematics parameters during counter-movement jump(2010-07-23) 黃長福; C. Huang; S. ShihThe purpose of this study was to develop an artificial neural network (ANN) model for predicting the joint moments of lower limbs using solely the kinematic parameters during counter-movement jump (CMJ). Nine female volleyball players performed CMJ. The joint moments were calculated from experimental data by inverse dynamics (called “measured joint moments” in this study). A “303-3-303 ANN model” was developed with 303 neurons in input layer, three neurons in hidden layer and 303 neurons in output layers. The input variables were the left lower limb extension / flexion joint angles, and the output variables were left lower limb extension / flexion joint moments. The results revealed that the ANN model fitted the experimental data well indicating that the model developed in this study was feasible in the assessment of joint moments for CMJ.Item Better postural control during accurate shooting in elite female basketball players(2011-07-01) 黃長福; Yen-Ting Wang Wang; Tsung-Li Tseng; Lin Chi; Chen-fu Huang; Pao-Cheng Lin; Alex J.Y. LeeThe purpose of this study was to evaluate the differences of postural control (PC) during accurate and inaccurate shooting in elite female basketball players. 21 female professional basketball players recruited as subjects. The PC was evaluated by the Accusway as sway radius, velocity, radial and 95% area of the center of pressure (COP) during standard penalty line shooting. The results showed that the COP sway area during accurate shooting was significantly smaller than during inaccurate shooting (74.0 37.9 vs. 110.6 49.1, p < .05). Moreover, no significant differences were found between situations in the COP radius and velocity. This study found that during the accurate shooting, elite female basketball player had better PC which demonstrated that significant smaller COP sway area than inaccurate shooting.Item Biomechanical analysis of back kicks attack movement in Taekwondo(2006-07-18) 黃長福; Chen Lin Lee; Chenfu HuangThe purpose of this study is to compare three Taekwondo back kicks attack movements. Seven male Taekwondo athletes (age: 21.0 ± 2.0 year old, height: 180.4 ± 4.4cm, weight: 69.1 ± 26.1kg) performed the back kick, jump back kick and 360° jump back kick where the left leg was attack leg. Two Redlake (60Hz) cameras and an accelerometer were used to collect data. The results revealed that the jump back kick’s attack force is greater than in 360° jump back kick. The angular velocity of knee and low trunk of back kick and jump back kick are faster than 360° jump back kick during rotation phase. The 360° jump back kick has a greater attack height and distance when striking the bag. The study suggests back kicking as important skill which the athletes need to practice for improving the kicking ability.Item The biomechanical analysis of roundhouse kick in taekwondo(2012-07-06) 黃長福Item Biomechanical Analysis of Standing Long Jump: A 3D Study(2009-08-21) 黃長福; C. Huang; R.H. TangMany studies had investigated 2D standing long jump, and some indicated that when jump with optimal load, the jumping performance would be improved. But till now, no study reported the 3D kinetic and kinematic data in standing long jump. The purpose of the study was to compare the kinetic and kinematic difference between restricted arm jump, normal jump, and loaded standing long jump.Item Biomechanical analysis of the grab and track swimming starts(2012-07-06) 黃長福Item The biomechanical analysis of the taekwondo front-leg axe-kick(2005-08-27) 黃長福; Yeh-Jung Tsai; Guo-Hong Gu; Chia-Jung Lee; Chen-Fu Huang; Chien-Lu TsaiThe purpose of the study was to analyze the biomechanics of taekwondo front-leg axekick. One force plates, two synchronized high-speed cameras were used to measure biomechanical parameters in each phase of the front-leg axe-kick. The results included: 1. The average reaction time and movement time were 0.423 sand 0.327 s, which respectively occupied about 56% and 44% of attack time. 2. The maximum velocity of hip, knee and ankle were 1.74 m/s, 5.25 m/s and 7.43 m/s respectively. When the kicking leg touched the target, the velocity of knee and ankle were 0.78m/s, 1.72m1s, and 4.64m1s respectively. 3. The peak vertical GRF and impulse were 0.96 SW and 77.57N-s. For decreasing the movement time, it's suggested that an athlete should increase the power and flexibility of lower extremities during the training section.Item Biomechanics of standing long jump with handheld weight(2008-07-18) 黃長福Item The calculation on the rotational kinematics about the longitudinal axis of javelin by three methods(2005-08-27) 黃長福; Guo-Hong Gu; Yeh-Jung Tsai; Chen-Fu HuangThe motion of javelin is complicated after it is released. Itis necessary to use some skills to calculate the rotation kinematics about the longitudinal axis of javelin. In this study, the Euler angle, the Cardan angle and the screw axis methods were used to calculate these kinematic variables. Two synchronized Redlake high-speed cameras (250 Hz) and a javelin with three fixed reflective markers were used in the experiment. Generally the results by three methods were close, and all of the three methods are suitable for the calculation on these variables. In the Euler angle and Cardan angle methods, the order of rotation sequence needs to be taken account, however no similar problem occurred in screw method. The results suggested that the longitudinal axis should be set as second axis in either Euler angle or Cardan angle methods to avoid Gimbal Lock (singularity) problem.Item The charteristics of lower limb moments in baseball pitching(2011-07-01) 黃長福
