為研發編寫《國民中學理化》與《國民中學選修理化》教科書,擬參考任課教師的意見來判斷新課本的配圖應如何選擇,而向681位現任國中理化教師做了有關理化課本配圖的問卷調查。其涵蓋的觀念包括(1)「人性化」與「現實生活化,是否必要;(2)「兩性問題,是否會影響教學及學生未來發展。統計結果顯示:認為配圖以物為主,或只有手沒有人不恰當者佔16%;配圖人物性別不應反映現實生活者佔21%;配圖人物性別會影響不同性別學生學習者佔17%;而有91% 的教師並未注意現行理化課本中配圖數目究以女生為主的多抑以男生為主的多;也有92%的教師表示其個人選擇科系未受課本配圖裡人物性別影響。本研究對於教師服務地區,任教年資及性別亦予比較、討論。
