十九世紀,創造力的定義重新被學術界廣為討論,而其詮釋及教學上的運用向來備受爭議。本文略述行為主義、存在主義及人類主義對創造力的詮釋,並提供有關教育界應持的態度及可做的努力之建議。行為主義主張如果環境因素配合,創造行為就得以產生;存在主義學者沙特主張創造前無法預知成果,創造力即無線狀秩序也非因果關係,或許可以「文章本天成, 妙手偶得之」來解釋:人類學家的創造觀則將科學、歷史、生物、社會、心理學及人類經驗都考慮在內。本文作者認為教育界多年來的教育方法造成著重成果不重過程的現象,無法評量高層次思考等等。建議學校提供足夠的資源、管道及自由想像的時間和空間。
