文中指出,電腦乃未來科技之潮流,故指導資優學生學電腦乃屬勢之所趨。本文就二觀點:事業發展與增進學習,來探討資優生學習電腦之必要。從事業發展的觀點言,讓學生了解電腦工業或資訊工業內行行色色的工作角色,亦是促進其早期職業認知與探索的機會,以俾孕育資訊人才。文中並列舉資優生電腦教學的教材要項,如訓練決斷能力、探索重於能力等;從增進學習觀點言,資優生之學習首重推理、創造、分析能力之培育。而電腦教學正是有此三大功能:常作測驗算術語文之工具、當作編序學習情境的一部份及當作分析解決問題的工具。故作者認為適當有效運用電腦,可幫助學習甚大。
