Abstract
This study aims to explore the academic learning experiences and career development challenges faced by sports talent class students at a senior high school in Taipei City. Employing a qualitative research approach, the study conducted semi-structured interviews with nine graduates who have already entered the workforce. Thematic analysis was used to analyze the interview data. The findings are as follows:1.Students generally faced conflicts between academic learning and intensive sports training, making it difficult to balance both.2.Many participants experienced learning difficulties in specific subjects such as mathematics and English, resulting in academic gaps.3.Schools often lacked adequate remedial and counseling resources to meet the differentiated needs of sports class students.4.Key factors affecting academic performance included poor time management, weak academic foundations, and insufficient external support systems.5.After graduation, most students continued pursuing careers or further education in the sports field; however, due to limited academic competence, their career options and transition flexibility were constrained. Based on these findings, this study suggests strengthening academic support services, improving coordination between training and academic schedules, enhancing career planning and psychological support, and encouraging students to develop a second area of expertise to improve their adaptability in future career transitions. The results offer practical implications for sports education policy and student guidance strategies.
