Abstract
Abstract The purpose of this study was to investigate the effects of pre-school children’s balance abilities by implementing physical fitness programs through play. There were 40 children at the age of 5 or 6 in this study. The children were divided into two groups, the experimental group (EP) with 21 children and the control group (CP) with 19 children. The physical fitness programs were implemented to EP for 16 times within 8 weeks, each time for 30 minutes. All of the children in both groups were tested on static and dynamic balance abilities before and after the physical fitness programs. The test results of EP on static and dynamic balance abilities were compared with the test results of CP. According to the test results of both groups before and after the physical fitness programs, and on both static and dynamic balance abilities, we used describing statistics and t-test to analyze the difference between the two groups. The alpha level was set at 0.5. The results of the tests were analyzed as following. 1. About static balance abilities, the test results before the physical fitness programs were compared with the test results after the physical fitness programs. The children in experimental group showed significant improvements when they were tested to stand on single leg with their eyes closed after the physical fitness programs, but the children in the control group didn’t show any significant. However, there was not much difference between two groups after the physical fitness programs. 2. About dynamic balance abilities, children in experimental group showed significant improvements when they were tested to walk on the balance beam after the physical fitness programs, but children in control group didn’t show any significant improvements after the physical fitness programs. However, there was not much difference between the two groups after the physical fitness programs. It was concluded that there was not much difference between EP and CP about dynamic and static balance abilities after physical fitness programs, but in experimental group, children’s balance abilities had been improved after the physical fitness programs.
