| dc.description.abstract | Ernest Bloch (1880-1959), a Swiss-American composer, is a 20th-century representative in the field of music. His music reflects Jewish spirits and the Far Eastern image. Throughout Bloch’s life, he strived to explore unlimited possibilities of composing and fuse various styles and materials into his works. The research discusses “Suite for Viola and Piano” (1919), the work which won Bloch the first prize in The 1919 Berkshire Chamber Music Festival Competition. The study includes the following parts: (1) The composer's biographical and his development of composing style. (2) The background and the inspiration for creating “Suite for Viola and Piano”. (3) The analysis of the musical structure, composing techniques, and materials used in the work. (4) The personal interpretation of the performance of the composition. | en_US |
