Abstract
In recent years, in Taiwan’s education, there has been some criticism about the new employees not having been prepared fully for their future jobs through their education. Off–campus internship, combining theory and practice, that are playing a very important role, could be a possible way of solving the problem. As a result, students of the department of business and management in Institute of Technology are now required to participate in off-campus internships. However, many students in the off–campus internship will face pressure from said internship, leading to the deterioration of students’ level of internship satisfaction, and even affecting their future employment willingness. Therefore, this study mainly investigates the relationship between the internship pressure, the internship satisfaction, and the employment willingness. It also includes the analysis of variables associated with differences between circumstances, and includes “internship satisfaction” as a moderator to see if it interacts with internship pressure and employment willingness. Students, joined the off-campus internship, in the department of business and management in Institute of Technology in northern Taiwan participated in this study. This study was conducted through questionnaires, and the survey time was from May 1 to June 6, 2017, and 600 valid questionnaires were collected. The effective questionnaires were 442, and the effective response rate was 74%. The data was analyzed by descriptive statistics, t-test, one-way ANOVA analysis, Pearson’s product-moment correlation, multiple regression analysis, and hierarchical regression analysis. The conclusions were as follows: 1. The students’ off–campus internship pressure were at the medium level. 2. The students were satisfied with the off–campus internship. 3. The students were willing to work in the original internship industry. 4. There were significant differences in the internship pressure between the students depending on their different backgrounds. 5. There were significant differences in the internship satisfaction between the students depending on their different backgrounds. 6. There were significant differences in the employment willingness between the students depending on their different backgrounds. 7. Internship pressure, internship satisfaction, and employment willingness had shown a significant relationship between each other that it was possible to relatively accurately predict results. 8. Internship satisfaction as a factor had no moderating effect on the relationship between internship pressure and employment willingness.
