dc.description.abstractThis study seeks to understand how peer influence effects to young employee’s motivation toward learning in workplace context. At the same time, the study also employed social comparison theory to explore how peer influence effect to motivation to learn, and self-determination theory to understand about each participant’s needs to examine how needs impact to peer influence effect. The researcher took a qualitative approach to conducted the research. The study targeted young workers from 18 to 25 years old in Vietnam. There were 28 participants selected for the online interview through Google Meet. The interviews were transcribed and analyzed through Atlas.ti. The findings of this study present a view of how peers influence related to motivation to learn, as well as the factors that can enhance or prevent the influence. Peers can inspire and motivate young adults to participate in learning and to pursue personal and professional development through their feedback, encouragement, or achievements. Besides superiors, peers can be role models for an individual, sources of support for their learning, from that influence individual’s beliefs, and learning behaviors. On the other hand, depending on the workplace context that can bring different outcomes to the peers influence on motivation to learn. Individuals can be influenced by the environment that align with their characteristic and their motivation. The theory helped the researcher to discover what factors can enhance peer influence and what factors can prevent it.en_US
