| zh_TW |
| dc.description.abstract | The prosperity and accessibility of contemporary society have rendered the identity of the"outsider" a common condition shared across this generation. As I move back and forth between my hometown and unfamiliar places, my sense of belonging becomes increasingly blurred and accompanied by anxiety. The emotional shifts caused by this continuous displacement—alongside the solastalgia evoked by depopulated rural landscapes—have prompted a deeper observation of inhabited space.Landscapes are constructed by people and, in turn, elicit emotional responses. The intertextual relationship between vernacular landscape and psychological undercurrents forms a central axis of my creative process. How we perceive plants and objects in our environment from varying perspectives influences our impression of place. Grounded in the exploration of how the material components that form a landscape impact emotional experience, my practice reimagines and translates internal landscapes through imagery and framing. Through symbolic projection of the self onto withering plants and decaying, human-made environments, I seek to balance and confront my own anxieties surrounding displacement and belonging.By means of digital manipulation, painting, and video installation, my work explores the temporality of spatial decline and deterioration. The borrowed visual symbols, nuanced color palettes, and careful arrangement of frames all contribute to evoking the image of place and reconstructing lost scenes rooted in memory and absence. The interdependence between people and their environment is abstract and difficult to quantify. Yet sensory perception and visual experience sharpen our sense of loss when familiar elements quietly disappear. Paradoxically, as one who contributes to the shaping of the landscape, my own act of leaving may accelerate its transformation. Through the exploration of local material imagery, this research probes the causes of this contradiction and, in re-presenting lost scenes, reflects upon the cultural anchors that define my personal identity. | en_US |
