Abstract
This study will be organized and discussed through the lenses of historical context, cultural framework, contemporary social research, and artistic works. Chapter One outlines the research motivation and methodology, establishing the foundation for the entire paper. Beginning with Chapter Two, the discussion will explore the relationship between space and spatial perception, examining the impact of a " visualized virtual society" on human cognition and lifestyles. In contemporary society, individuals acquire knowledge through various media such as books and the Internet, and reflect upon their environment from scientific, humanistic, and social perspectives. If the body is regarded as a fixed, tangible structure, then the"media" plays a crucial role in shaping contemporary worldviews. Since the Industrial Revolution, rapid economic and technological development has produced transformations, often accompanied by a dual nature of chaos and ambiguity. Chapter Three will build upon the discussion of space in Chapter Two, further exploring how the interplay between reality and virtual spaces influences people’s lives and transformations in thought. This chapter examines the rise of female’s consciousness in Taiwan within the context of historically male-dominated social structures and reflects on contemporary female perspectives as perceived by the author.Chapter Four focuses on acts of viewing, fantasizing, disguising, and cosmetic surgery to analyze patterns of self-identification among contemporary women. This chapter also presents artworks—particularly those employing symbolic signs or performance art—to further examine how contemporary women maintain or reconstruct self-identity in modern society. It extends the discussion to the pressures and challenges women face in virtual environments, especially on social media platforms. Chapter Fiveand Six present the author’s creative works, including explanations of the materials, techniques, and subjects used. Through depictions of individual inner states within urban life—especially works centered on young female protagonists—the chapters explore how contemporary women seek self-positioning in an urbanized environment and investigate the contradictions and integration between individuals and urban space.
