Abstract
This paper explores how medical imaging can be expressed in the form of Biomedia Art. The research methodology involves the perspectives of Bio Art and biomedicines, as well as analyses of medical images, Bergson's philosophy of life, phenomenology, and New Media Theory. It investigates the extended implications of medicine, Biomedia Art, and contemporary art while contemplating the impact of a technology-oriented society on Biomedia Art. This paper is structured as follows, consisting of six chapters. Chapter One, Introduction, illustrates the author’s motivation and purpose, as well as research topics and methodologies. In Chapter Two, Literature Review, the author maps the interplay between medical imaging, Bio Art, and Biomedia Art. Chapter Three, The Forms of Biomedia Art, analyzes the wet qualities of living things and the Meaning of Biomedia Art. Chapter Four, Media Reinterpretation in Biomedia Art, explores the characteristics of medium in Biomedia and investigates how medium plays a technical role in Bio Art and medicine. Chapter Five, Microglia Cell Variation, involves using art practices to connect memory images with Biomedia Art and to ponder on the nature of life. Chapter 6, Conclusion, unveils the broad diversity of medical imaging and how it influences Biomedia Art. Following the process of verification in this research, this paper is the first to present the term “Biomedia Art” in response to the unitary nature of Bio Art by shattering the boundaries of Bio Art and further deepening the integration as well as values of New Media Art and medical imaging.
